Only Members and Associate Members of Lodge 1767 are eligible to join the NHEYC. Members of other Elks Lodges are required to become Associate Members of Lodge 1767 to become eligible. A formal application document has been developed for the membership application procedure. The New Member dues are $70.00 for the first year and $60.00 for Renewal. All dues are payable by April 1st. There are no other monthly fees. You can pay your dues online at https://newportelks.com/yachtclubdues.

As a member of the NHEYC, you will find that the core values of being an Elk are amplified in your love and interest in boating and water sports. You will find these amplified Elks values in all the NHEYC organized activities. You will also find new Elks friends that have a shared interest in boating and water sports.

There is no requirement for boat ownership to become a member of NHEYC. However, many of our members own boats and there are several opportunities during our scheduled events to get on the water.

The general membership meetings are held at the Lodge on the third Saturday of each month at 11:00AM. The “Bridge” meets at 10:00AM and all members are welcome to attend. Generally, the NHEYC holds a volunteer fund-raising BBQ immediately following the meeting. You are encouraged to volunteer to help with cooking and serving. The BBQ is open to all members of the Lodge and their guests.

The NHEYC members utilize any food and beverage services in the Lodge.

A plastic membership card(sample pictured below) is issued to each new member or upon renewal. New members can pick up their cards and New Member Package at the next general membership meeting following approval. Renewal cards are generally mailed. We encourage our members to always carry their card with the Lodge membership card.

The NHEYC issues membership cards only to members of the Yacht Club. However, many spouses of our members attend our activities as guests or as members of the NHEYC Nauti-Gals Auxiliary.

The NHEYC has many fun and charitable activities during the year. Among are events are:

∙ Commodore’s Ball

∙ Yacht Club Opening Day

∙ Rubber Duck Races

∙ Bus Trip to local Elk Lodges

∙ Duffy Electric Boat Rally

∙ Chili Cook Off

∙ Christmas Wreath Raffle

∙ Holiday Party

All these activities are conducted in line with Elk core values of enhancing the happiness of our members, cultivating a good fellowship, and supporting our local area with benevolent programs.

Our club uses the day-use Rhine Wharf Pier Public Dock as a guest dock on a “as available” basis. This dock is located on the water northwest of the Lodge. Skippers to check the vessel size restrictions and time limitations. This public dock cannot be reserved.

The Lodge does have 4 slips located on the waterside of the Lodge for rent to Elk members. While contracts for these slips are month to month, a member who is already renting a given slip is given priority on continuing for the next month. There is a waiting list that is managed by the Newport Harbor Elks Lodge Board of Trustees. Contact the Lodge Office to get in contact with the associated Trustee.

The best source of information can be found in the Lodge’s monthly newsletter, the Harbor Light. This monthly newsletter contains a special page devoted to yacht club activities. In addition, as a member you will receive periodic e-mail blasts of upcoming activities and volunteer opportunities.

Both the Lodge and the NHEYC need volunteers to successfully execute its missions. Volunteering sign-up opportunities can be found in the Harbor Light as well as announced at the monthly NHEYC monthly membership meetings. All members are encouraged to volunteer at the monthly BBQ hosted by the yacht club.

he NHEYC has recognized the Nauti-Gals as the Ladies Auxiliary of our Club. The Nauti-Gals work side by side with the NHEYC to support their events by volunteering to help organize, decorate, and/or lend help wherever needed to make yacht club events a success. The Nauti-Gals also plan and host fundraising events (which are open to all Lodge members) with the profits going to charities in the area.  The Nauti-Gals also enjoy the camaraderie formed through being a member of this auxiliary.

The Nauti-Gals meet monthly, on the third Saturday of each month, at 10:00AM before the NHEYC general membership meeting.  And, since they are a social group, they also get together monthly for no-host luncheons, annually for their Holiday dinner party and for any other reason that is of interest to them.

Only Members and Associate Members of Lodge 1767 and their spouses are eligible to join the Nauti-Gals. Members of other Elks Lodges are required to become Associate Members of Lodge 1767 to become eligible. A formal application document is available for the membership application procedure. The Member dues are $15.00 yearly (subject to change). All dues are payable  by April 1st. and there are no other monthly fees.

The Nauti-Gals auxiliary gives members the opportunity to make new Elk friendships, get involved with Lodge and NHEYC activities and live the life of Elks Care-Elks Share. For more specific information on the Nauti-Gals, reference attached Nauti-Gals purpose document.

he NHEYC Quartermaster is generally on duty at the general membership meetings and has logoed merchandise for sale at that time.

The ability to visit other yacht clubs should not be the most important reason to join the NHEYC. Reciprocal privileges need to be approved and arranged, usually on an annual basis. The NHEYC has established limited arrangements with some local yacht clubs. A current list is available from the NHEYC Commodore.

Under no circumstances should you assume you have a reciprocal privilege. Here are some basic rules to follow:

  1. Call ahead to that club to verify that NHEYC has a reciprocal privilege.

  2. Aways confirm that your visit will not conflict with any of that club’s activities.

  3. Always present your NHEYC membership card, wear your name badge, and sign the guest register.

  4. Always be courteous to club employees and never discuss the dues structure of the NHEYC.

  5. If approaching by sea, always fly the NHEYC burgee.

Most yacht clubs want you to enjoy your visit and appreciate your spending on food and beverages. Traditional yachting protocol, courtesy, and a thank you to the staff will be appreciated.
